films that teach?

FILMS THAT TEACH?

Well... that is a question that has being arround teacher´s mind for a several time and my answer is...DEPEND ON THE AIM.

Today we have finished to wach the film "Mulán"(I have said finish because we stated to wach it the previous lesson). 

The objetive of this session was to analize deeperly the film in order to find out what was the message from the film. To do that, the teacher gave us some question to help us to gide through the topic we had to be focuss on.

After that we had time to write some ideas about the positive, negative and neutral aspects from the topics of the film. The people who had the same topic, had to be in groups and compare the aspects. aften a few minutes talking a menber of each group had to explain the ideas of the group.  
In my case, our group had to talk about the moral of the film.


This were our conclusions:
  • POSITIVE ASPECTS: 
    • To fight in order to get your objetives.
    • To aware the people about women´s role in China
    • Self confidence
    • Importance of the family
    • Women can fight as a men
    • To be corageous against adversities.
  • NEGATIVES ASPECTS:
    • Dificult for the women to do the same than the men.
    • the emperator doesn´t care about father´s illness
  • NEUTRAL ASPECTS:
    • To have a knowledge about the China´s culture.
    • The idea of not follow the orders. It can be good, like the film, or bad when the things don´t go well. Does the aim justifie the way?

I really enjoyed this activity, it is different and I think we can do the same with some films in 6th grade, it will be interesting to know the reation of the students.

Picture in accion

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN LATER?

I've had really good time doing this activity. 
To be honest, I had already thought of an activity like this before but I never would have thought to do it this way, where the students have to act as if they are inside the work.


I had thought to read or tell a story and then they would have to invent an alternative ending but I never would have thought to do it as we did.

The activity consisted of the teacher showed a picture/scene of a story and first, we had to pose as tha characters of the imagen do. Once we had the same imagen represented, we had to represent how the story followed using the creativity and imagination.


As you will be able to see in the followed video, we've been very funny moments thanks to Edu, Javi, Alberto and Marta who, in my opinion had to be won the golden palm form the best improvisation of the moments.

I hope te players do not get angry with me for putting the video but it is worth.



I really like the Edu´s sentence: "ey, ey, ey Why are we fighting?" It was a really good improvisation, it was amazing and because the laughter of my mates, I guess they also enjoy it. How do yo do it Edu?

When I noticed that the topic of the pictures that the teacher showed us, I thought we can change the topic and choose a topic related with the story tales. I have been also thinking that it would work better if the student don´t know what is the story about and in this way you make that student develop their imagination and creativity.

In other words, amaizing activity as always; I really enjoy it.

Time to have a Nap

"The stories for children are just for sleep"


PLEASE... Who said that? This post show that it is not true. For a long time the stories have been used, in addition to teaching, for childen go to the bed in clam and alone. Durin this year we have learnt a several ways to teach the units from a text book but none as this one.
Hello everyboby, Gest what? It is me...again. at this moment we have learn a lot of ways to teach spending  a good and efective time with the children so because we have to add this activity to the list of "the great activities". 

The develop of this activity consist in the creation of story to tell to the clildren using some general gestures for some words and others invented by you. The story had to follow a specific structure given. We also had to make a "power point" with some drawing or pictures in order to help children to follow the story in a easier way complement the telling story.

The topic of the story could be very different but a good idea was to make the story related with some unit from one subject because this way the leatning is easier and funnier.
Finally we had to show our stories being tollen twice, one with the power point and making the gestures a another second one inviting our parners to make the gestures with us.
one of the goals for this activity was to notice that it is possible to create a several story taking as a model a easy structure



This activity was really funny to do it and it has a lot of good results because the story I did was related with a topic from a book and it is easier for the student to pay attention to a short story than an explanation. It is true that its took time to think what the stoy was going to go about and also to decide the gesture for each key word.


I really recomend it, you will have a really good time, I will say more, I would bet you will have a funnier time than the student itselfves.

singing the unit!!!!





Another surprise

Once again, Raquel never ceases to amaze. This time by asking us for creating a song more specifically "singing a theme/topic from the theory", yes... I said "SINGING A TOPIC"
It is a really creative way for students to memorize or remember ideas or concepts.

The activity just consists on creating a rate using key concept from the unit.
Said so, it seems easy but actually it is not when they tell you not only have to make that the words rhyme but also you have to invent a rhyme and all this in a few minutes.

To develop this activity the teacher divided the class into groups and she gave to each one a piece of text from a primary book. We had a few minutes to create the rhyme but still it was enough time to create a good rhyme.

It was a really funny activity I had not think in something like this before. After to create it we had to represent it in class and when the lesson finished, I remain impressed by the amount of different songs can be created. We lost the shame of sing and we notice that if you make a mistake can be also funny, this was what happen with some of our partners




On the other hand it was funny because there was some small mistakes, not just done by me but also done by others parners who put the comic point to the sesion. 

I have been reflecting about how and when use this activity, and I realized that it could be used as a reflection or summary of how you have felt throughout the primary stage or to comment anecdotes to tell parents in a performance.

The activity would be related to the subject of music and for the last year of primary school. Also might be possible to do it both in Spanish and in English.
I know this is a long and complicated activity to coordinate and carry out, but it would be a fun a creative way to end the primary period.
